Eagle Bluff!

So this morning, one of two groups of 6th graders at my school left for Eagle Bluff. I was just thinking about how I'm going to remember that experience for the rest of my life, and I thought I'd share it with you.  I had such a great time at Eagle Bluff, and I'm going to have the friends I made and the memories forever. I was in a group with a bunch of people who I didn't really know. There was one girl who I sort of knew, but I hadn't ever really talked to her. Like, ever. But we ended up next to each other one day(we had to sit upstairs and wait for the rest of our group each day),and we just started talking.  I found out that she loved Harry Potter when we did the ropes course (Guys, it was on the edge of a cliff.  It was AWESOME.), and someone said we should name our carabiners, because you had to ask your partner if you could move it before you did, and she named her carabiners Fred and George Weasley.  (I named mine Hedwig and Pig. (Short for Pigwidgeon, obviously.))  We became really good friends, at least for that week.  We don't specifically hang out, but we do know each other pretty well now, and I'll still say hi to her in the hallway and whatever.
Here's what I did at Eagle Bluff that I'll remember for the rest of my life:

  • I went through a ropes course that was 20 feet off the ground, but it looked and felt like it was 100 feet, because it was on the edge of a cliff. (and there was an epic zipline at the end.)
  • I shot an arrow at Voldemort's face, because the instructor told us we couldn't make a target that was a human, "except for Voldemort."  It was great.
  • We did archery, and then applied SCIENCE to said archery.  (Voldemort archery was included in this.)
  • I almost won the award for best bedhead.  But I'm not bitter.
  • I went rock climbing!  (Not for the first time) (It was still awesome though)
  • We went on a very long hike through the forest and then sat very quietly and still on benches for fifteen minutes.  AND THEN BIRDS CAME AND ATE BIRDSEED OUT OF MY HAND.  It was magical.  (no, seriously.)
I think might be able to find some pictures of Eagle Bluff from last year. *digs out yearbook*  *takes crappy photos of the page*  Here you go!
A bunch of my friends are here!
Hey look it's the back of my head!  Rock climbing!

Random Question of  the Day:

Hey

This post is really more of just an update. I know I haven't posted in a while, but I am working on something fun for you guys. That's the main reason I've been mostly inactive here. I've also been doing some prep work for Girl Scout cookie season!  Wooo!  (Yes, I know I'm a month early for cookies. I get excited, okay?) More details on that will come soon.

So yes, I am trying to update the blog more often, but I'm working on a lot of stuff right now.

You do still get a random question.

New Year!

So, it's a new year.  And what does that mean?  New Year's resolution time!  Here are mine.

Write SOMETHING every day.
Write a new blog post at least once a week.
Win NaNoWriMo!
Finish at least one big writing project.  (this could be accomplished by winning NaNoWriMo)
Finish reading 30 books.
Get better at managing money. (start budgeting more)

Those are my New Year's resolutions. What are yours?  Let me know in the comments below!

Also, I forgot a random question of the day in my last post, so you get 2 today!

1)

2)
There's actually snow outside, enough to build a snowman with. I made this guy the other day.
He's a pile. The snow wasn't sticky enough.

That is all.

Christmas!

So. Break is almost over, (why?  why do i have to go back to school? i am so not ready for this.) and I thought I would share some of the stuff I got for Christmas!

I'm really really excited about these, since my family does have a set, and I use them ALL. THE. TIME. when I get stuck in my writing, and now I have my own.  I love to use them to just throw a sort of random twist into my story and make it fit. I present to you Rory's Story Cubes!
I also made a little bag for them out of an old shirt that we were going to give away anyway.

I got chalk pastels too, and if you don't know what they are, it's basically fancy chalk. (I don't have any other way to explain it.  I don't know.)
But look how pretty these are!!!!
A lot of people use chalk pastels to shade polymer clay, and that's what I plan to do with these.

I got a phone holder for my bicycle, which I actually really needed, cause, y'know, biking. I can't exactly just keep it in my back pocket, cause it'll fall out. Onto the road. It would be bad.  I'm not quite sure how it works yet, I'll need to figure that out before spring. :)

I also got a lot of books.
I got No Plot? No Problem! by Chris Baty, the founder of NaNoWriMo.  It's pretty much a step by step guide to writing a novel in a month, but it's also really useful for just writing a novel. I am going to use this so much. Seriously, in two years, this book is gonna be so beat up.

I got the Nerdy Nummies cookbook (yay!) which came out in November, I think. It's so cool!  I'm probably gonna make at least one of the things in here before the end of break, probably the Nessie cupcakes. I mean, look at this!  So cute!

I got this book called The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron.
It's about unlocking your creativity, in a way.  I haven't gotten super far in it yet, but it's pretty good so far.

And then this.
Fairy tales!  So so happy about this, since you know I'm a sucker for fairytales. This is also helpful for my fairytale stories. (Surprise!)

My dad really likes these books, this one is about the album Flood by They Might Be Giants. TMBG is one of my very favorite bands, and Flood is my favorite album of theirs. I haven't had a chance to look at this yet, but it seems cool.

And then there's this. This is perhaps my favorite present that I got for Christmas. It's a unicorn. But it's a mug. It's the greatest.
My tea is so majestical. It's amazing.

That's it for this post!  What did you get for Christmas(or whatever you celebrate) this year?
